Jamie Vardy is unlikely to be first-choice selection for England at Euro 2016, according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Vardy scored 24 times for Leicester last season helping the Foxes to win the Premier League and sources have disclosed the medical with Arsenal remaining confident of
signing him.
The Arsenal manager is looking to sign the striker for a fee of £22 million after activating his release clause, but time is running out to make a deal happen before the start of Euro 2016 on Friday.
"I don't think that Vardy will be a starter [for England]," Wenger told beIN Sports, as reported by The Independent. "He has earned his place in the squad.
"I don't say this because he does not have the quality, but he doesn't have enough experience at that level to say the whole tournament will depend on Vardy. Will he be there? Certainly.
"Football progresses always. The offences creates a new problem, the defence responds. What has happened in the last 10 years is that the strikers have become quicker and quicker.
"What's happened? The defence have responded by creating quicker and quicker defenders."
