Manchester City are lining up a move to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a source close to the club has told ESPN FC.
City are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by making a swift move to try and lure forward Aubameyang to the Etihad Stadium.
Aubameyang, 26, is regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe after impressing at Borussia Dortmund I.e scoring 39 goals in all competitions
for Dortmund last season as they lost out to Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga and German Cup.
New City boss Pep Guardiola is well aware of Aubameyang's talents having seen him up close while in charge of Bayern Munich, and he sees the Gabon international as a key part of his plans to take City forward.
City are ready to back Guardiola in the transfer market and they are prepared to smash their transfer record to bring Aubameyang to the club.
Aubameyang's future at Dortmund has been the subject of speculation so far summer, with Spanish giants Real Madrid also confirmed admirers of the player and it remains to be seen if they enter the race for the African's signature.
Dortmund are reluctant to sell Aubameyang having already lost Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich and Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City this summer, but City are ready to test their resolve with an offer in excess of £50 million forthe former Saint-Etienne man as Guardiola continues his plans of reshaping his squad.
